Legal Terms

These terms set out how you may use Next Stop STL and what you can and cannot expect from it. If you keep reading, these terms apply to that use. They were last revised on October 29, 2026.

1. Information, not advice

Our guides describe how business formation, funding, leasing, local rules and marketing generally work. They are written for a broad readership and cannot account for the particulars of your company, your contract or your finances. Nothing here is legal, tax, accounting, real estate or investment advice, and reading a guide does not create any client or advisory relationship with the editors. For a decision with real consequences, speak with a qualified professional who can review your own documents.

2. Accuracy and timing

We work hard to get things right, but we cannot promise that every page is complete, error-free or current on the day you read it. Filing fees, program limits, tax rates and local ordinances change, sometimes without much notice. Each guide reflects what we understood when it was written or last updated. Before you rely on a specific figure or deadline, confirm it with the agency or office responsible for it.

3. Links between pages

Pages on this site link to other pages on this site so you can follow a topic from start to finish. Those links are offered for convenience. Where a guide refers you to an official body, check that body's current information directly rather than treating our summary as a substitute.

4. Who owns the writing

The text on Next Stop STL is original work by the Next Stop STL editors and is protected by copyright. You are welcome to read it, print a page for your own use, and quote a short passage with a link back to the source. Republishing whole guides, copying large portions into another site, or presenting our work as your own is not allowed without written permission.

5. Using the site fairly

Please do not try to disrupt the site, probe it for weaknesses, overload it with automated requests or use it to distribute anything harmful. Do not scrape the guides in bulk to repackage them elsewhere. We may block access from sources that behave this way.

6. Limits on our responsibility

To the fullest extent the law allows, the editors are not liable for losses or costs that arise from using, or being unable to use, this site or the information on it. That includes decisions you make after reading a guide, delays caused by outdated information, and any interruption to the site itself. Where the law does not permit a limit like this, our responsibility is restricted to the minimum it requires.

7. Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri. Any dispute about them or about the site will be handled under Missouri law, without regard to rules that would point to another state's law.

8. Updates to these terms

We may revise these terms as the site develops. The current version always lives on this page, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised wording. Significant changes will be noted with a new revision date above.

9. Getting in touch

Questions about these terms can go to contact@nextstopstl.org. How we treat personal information is covered separately in How We Handle Data, and cookies are explained in What Your Browser Keeps.
