How We Handle Data

Last updated October 29, 2026

This page explains what happens to information about you when you read Next Stop STL. The short version: very little is collected, and nothing is sold. The longer version follows, section by section.

A reading site, nothing more

Next Stop STL is a static website. Each page is a prebuilt file that your browser downloads and displays. There is no login, no reader account, no comment box and no newsletter sign-up form. Because none of those features exist, the site has no database of readers and no profile of you to keep.

Analytics and advertising tools

We do not run any analytics service, visitor-counting script, advertising network or social-media tracking pixel on this site. No third-party code follows you from page to page here or reports your visit to anyone. If that ever changes, this page will be updated first, and the tool will be named here before it goes live.

The single choice saved in your browser

When you first arrive, a notice asks for your cookie preference. Your answer is saved in your own browser so the notice does not reappear on every page. That saved choice stays on your device; it is not sent back to us and does not identify you. The details, including how to remove it, are on What Your Browser Keeps.

Technical logs at the hosting company

Like nearly every website, this one is delivered by a hosting provider whose servers record basic technical information about each request. That usually includes the IP address that asked for the page, the time, the page requested, and the browser type reported. These records exist so the provider can deliver pages reliably, spot abuse and fix faults. We do not use them to identify readers, combine them with other data or build any kind of profile, and they are kept and deleted according to the provider's own retention practices.

Emails you send us

If you write to contact@nextstopstl.org, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you put in the message. We use that only to read and answer you, and to fix a guide if you have pointed out a mistake. We do not add you to a mailing list, share your message with outside parties or keep it longer than needed to deal with it. If you would like a conversation removed from our inbox, ask and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what information we hold that relates to you, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it. In practice that means any email you have sent, since we keep nothing else tied to a person. Send the request from the address you used before so we can match it, and we will answer as soon as we reasonably can. You can also clear the stored cookie choice yourself at any time.

Children

This site is written for adults running or planning a business. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has emailed us, let us know and we will remove the message.

When this page changes

If our practices change, we will revise this page and move the date at the top. A meaningful change, such as adding any measurement tool, will be described here in plain terms rather than slipped in quietly.

Questions

Anything unclear? Email contact@nextstopstl.org and one of the editors will get back to you. For the wider rules on using the site, see our legal terms.
